Schedule

The Quinn Lab is now scheduled through Enrollment Services. Contact Ken Sisson at ksisson@uri.edu to reserve the lab.

Reserving the Lab

Reservations for use of instructional computing facilities should be submitted at least a week in advance for one-time use (to accommodate training of the instructor). Ideally, block reservations for instructional computing facilities (e.g., for an extended period such as all MWF 10-10:50 a.m. for the entire semester) should be submitted at least a month in advance. Reservations are approved on a first-come, first-served basis.

Quinn Lab can be reserved for a course for the entire semester (e.g. MWF 10 - 10:50 a.m.).
Course reservations do not automatically include final exam periods. These must be booked by the instructor separately.

Email your reservation request to labreservation@etal.uri.edu. Please list your class size, what computer functions you need for your course (Web browsing, word processing, etc.), and the software you will need for instruction.

Please, be sure to read the Computer Lab Reservation Policy.

Electronic Access

Card Swipe

The lab must be opened by a Classroom Media Assistance worker.
If you would like to reserve the lab for a time when the lab in normally closed, special accommodations must be arranged prior to the event.

Internet Access

Ethernet

Each room has at least one active ethernet port for use with the internet. The port will be marked with a yellow dot. There should be an ethernet cable in the rack drawer to use with the port. However, these are occasionally taken from the room. If you find one is missing, please call Classroom Media Assistance at 874-4278.

The ethernet ports with yellow dots were tested successfully in August, but if you are unable to get online using this port all rooms also have wireless internet access. If you have not used wireless access in the past, please be sure to test out your laptop before class starts. Some manufacturers have special programs or utilities that control wireless, or yours may have a physical button that needs to be selected.

In addition, if you have never used your laptop on the URI network, you will be asked to download and install and electronic policy key. You probably don't want to do this during class time, so connect your laptop in your office first and get this step out of the way. To authenticate with the policy site, you will need to use your URI mail.uri.edu username (which is the same as your eCampus username) and you mail.uri.edu password. If you have never used this mail account, the default password will still be in effect, this is your birthdate in the MMDDYYYY format.
